In the beginning of the film, we saw a group of people partying on the beach. There was a young man playing the harmonica. "Drunk guy" was staring at a very pretty young blonde across from him. "DG" walked over to Chrissie and started up a conversation. We heard the harmonica playing in the background as Chrissie and "DG" got up and walked away. Chrissie was running and "DG" was running behind her. He was extremely intoxicated as he fell down the beach as Chrissie entered the water.

The free reed harmonica was invented in 1820. It was the invention of Christian Friedrich Ludwig Buschmann. In my opinion, the harmonica was intended to set a harmonious setting in the film's first scene. I felt like it the music in the film was almost like a separate character in itself. The menacing theme that played when the shark was getting ready to attack definitely had this aspect to it.

In the movie "Jaws", during the final confrontation between the protagonist and the great white shark, the character Hooper attempts to spear the shark with an injection from inside a cage. This injection was a type of hypodermic injection known as a 'harpoon', which was specifically designed for underwater use against larger sea creatures. The particular one used by Hooper in the movie was a modified variation of the University of Miami's Shark Research Panel's (UMSRP) shark dart, which was designed to deliver tranquilizing drugs to sharks in order to study them. While not the most effective weapon against a great white shark, Hooper's attempt with the harpoon served as a heroic and thrilling moment in the film's climax.

Interestingly, the scene where Charlie attempts to catch the shark with the roast was not originally in the script. Kramer, born on July 15, 1945 in New York City, got the part of Hendricks. Hendricks was a resident of Amity Island and, much like everyone else on the island, wanted the shark dead. Early on in the film, his friends used meat when they threw it into the ocean and hoped this would attract the shark. The shark swam over and nearly killed the friends. Chief Brody told Henricks that his friends were foolish and Hendricks claimed they were not his friends. Hendricks joked about this when he said his wife inquired as to where all the meat was and Chief Brody told him that was not humorous. Kramer had guest starring stints on the TV series "Ally McBeal", "Out of This World" and "Happy Days".

After Brody blows up the shark, the duo return to shore using Quint's barrels and some boards fashioned together as a float. Brody's fear of the water is completely gone at this point and he can officially call himself an "Islander".

The Mayor and his associates including the doctor from the town got out of the car. The Mayor confronted Martin about shutting down the beach. Martin told Vaughn that the doctor said it was a shark that killed Chrissie. The doctor retracted his statement and said it was a boat propeller. Mayor Vaughn told Martin it was his first summer and not to over-react.
